Moroccan Outsider Artist Ben Ali - Cow & Stool
The work of Essaouira’s own outsider artist Ben Ali is arresting, colorful, and playful. These small pieces are painted with acrylic on children’s chalk boards which have colorful plastic borders. Ben Ali (pictured here in our Showroom in Essaouira), a fisherman in his youth, was the sole survivor of a tragic boat accident that claimed the life of his brother and friends. After surviving this horror, he dedicated his life to painting. He is self taught and has exhibited in Essaouira and Marrakesh.
