Mid-20th century Qur'anic writing board

$500.00

Moroccan Qur’anic writing board from the mid-20th century. These boards were used by students in traditional Islamic schools (madrasas) in Morocco to practice writing verses from the Qur’an for memorization purposes. Writings are in classical Arabic. Once a verse was learned, the ink would be washed off ready for a new verse. This board is made of wood with curved edges and tapers slightly. These are works of art in and of themselves and look amazing hung alone or together. There are two sides (pictured) to this board with a hole on top for hanging. Last photo shows effect of grouping many together.
